Art is above all an expression of the human spirit. Painting for Marven Donati, becomes a type of revelation of the self, a history of self-discovery. Marven’s love for painting began during her childhood in Italy where her talent was first recognized. After coming to Canada in 1960, she studied first at the University of New Brunswick and then at the University of British Columbia. She took an early retirement from her teaching career at Templeton High School in Vancouver in order to resume painting full-time. Since then, she has had a number of solo exhibitions and has participated in numerous group exhibitions.
